XIX MARCH

On the night of 18 March, on the eve of the spring equinox, it is a tradition in our land to graze in large bonfires brushwood and remnants of winter to make way for the rebirth of spring. The scents in the air are intense and fresh, new yet ancient. In our region, all the men and women of the village gather around the big bonfire. The old men tell stories to the children and the bravest boys jump into the fire in defiance and to prove their worth. With this fire, all the pains and troubles of winter are burnt away and one waits confidently for the arrival of the joy and happiness that spring brings. From that fire rise all the hopes of the days to come, like an apotropaic and collective prayer. A world of storytelling and ancient folk tradition come together in this complex perfume that is absolutely innovative in its stylistic texture.
