Bois d'oud

Agarwood, also known as oud, is a resinous heartwood that forms in aquilaria trees growing in Southeast Asia. When these trees are infected by a specific type of mold, they produce a dark aromatic resin – oud - that thickens in the bark. The essential oil is then extracted from the resin, known for its characteristic animalic, woody, and
smoky scent. Due to the scarcity and rarity of oud, its cost is very high today, which is why it is often reinterpreted in accords that reproduce its olfactory profile in different nuances.
