Mimosa appeared in Provence in the mid-19th century. The English, having discovered it while strolling in Hyde Park and its marvelous Crystal Palace, requested to plant the tree on the French Riviera where they spent the winter. The
request was so insistent that mimosa plants were planted in the Tanneron region. The essence of mimosa for perfumery began to be produced in the 1940s and has since been used in prestigious perfumes.
